Frequently asked questions
How do I know which tennis racquet is right for me?
Start with how often you play and how large your swing is. Beginners and lighter hitters want an oversized head (100-110si) and a lighter frame (250-285g) for power and forgiveness; stronger, advanced players prefer a smaller head (98-100si) and heavier frame (~300g) for control. Grip size (L1-L4) must fit your hand.
What does L1, L2, L3, L4 mean on a tennis racquet?
These are grip sizes in inches. L1 = 4 1/8", L2 = 4 1/4", L3 = 4 3/8", L4 = 4 1/2". Most men use L3, most women and juniors L1-L2. To measure, the racquet should feel snug in your palm with about a finger's gap between fingertips and palm.
Should I use a 98 or 100 tennis racquet?
A bigger head (100+) gives a larger sweet spot, more power and more forgiveness - great for less advanced players. A 98 has a denser string bed and more control/frame feel - preferred by advanced and club players. Demo both on the same string to feel the difference.
What is better, titanium or graphite?
Graphite is the modern standard for serious racquets - it's light yet stiff, which gives controlled power. Titanium in racquets is largely a marketing label; a racquet titled 'titanium' is still dominantly graphite. Choose on spec, not the titanium sticker.
Is Wilson or Babolat better?
Neither is objectively better - they suit different games. Wilson (Pro Staff, Blade) leans control and classic feel; Babolat (Pure Drive, Pure Aero) leans power and spin. We stock both, so the right pick depends on your swing, not the logo.
Is 300g a heavy tennis racquet?
300g unstrung is the classic 'advanced' weight - stable and plush for full swings, but tiring for a beginner. Lighter (250-285g) frames are easier to swing and generate power. Match weight to your strength and how long you play.
What tension does Djokovic / Alcaraz use?
Pros string tight for control - Djokovic is typically mid-to-high 50s lb and Alcaraz around 50-55 lb. Tight strings give control but less power/feel; loose strings add power and comfort. Most club players sit around 48-55 lb. We string to your preference or we can recommend you a string setup if unsure.
