When buying a tennis shoe from Tension 24, there a several things to consider: what is the court surface you are playing on, how much tennis do you play, and what kind of player are you.
If playing on en tous cas or clay courts, you will need a herringbone outsole which has a zigzag pattern that helps keep clay out of the outsole for better traction. If playing on a hard court, look for an outsole that has a wider tread, or if playing on all surfaces, there are a lot of shoes that have an all-court outsole. Tennis shoes have lateral support for lots of side-to-side movement (unlike a cross trainer or running shoe which is a heel to toe forward motion). Other features are cushioning and a midsole that absorbs shock from hard surfaces, a strong flexible upper with a durable toe drag area to reduce damage to the toe. There are a wide range of tennis shoes at Tension 24 and we stock brands such as Asics, KSwiss, Wilson, Adidas, Head and New Balance.
